Today we each brought the prototype designs we have been working on at home to show one another. It was really interesting to see some of the different ideas. One had a neat gear train, another a great solution for quickly changing the batteries and another had a great way to quickly add on attachments. Now our plan is to amalgamate some of the ideas together into updated prototypes and see what other ideas and improvements we can come up with. It was really fun and a real treat to have so many NXT kits to work with. Not that long ago we only had one kit available to us, so it was difficult to compare different designs, and a lot of work to keep re-building.
Today our coach spent quite a bit of time talking to us about what it means to be a Waffle. We really like these talks as she always points out the great things we have been doing. We also spent a bit of time talking about good team work and doing a Waffles Challenge. Today’s challenge was to work together to carry a bucket of toxic waste over to the neutralizing bucket. The trick was we couldn’t touch the bucket with our hands or spill any of the toxic waste. Thankfully we had a small skipping rope and bungie cord that we could use. It took us a while, but in the end we managed to complete our task. It was a lot of fun and we learned several important lessons doing the challenge.
