For the past week we have all been busy building. Our goal is to have our basic robot design finalized by Monday, September 15th. We had lots of prototypes build, but none were really ideal. Over the weekend Honey, Yogurt and I (Cinnamon) decided to bite the bullet and take apart our three designs and amalgamate them into one, taking the best features of each. It sounds easy, but it isn’t. They were all totally different, so we had to do a lot of rebuilding to make things work together. We also risked taking our current designs apart and not being able to put them back together or make the new design work. This morning before church, we finally had that breakthrough we were hoping for. We had successfully merged the ideas into one really great robot. We did some testing this afternoon and it seems to perform quite consistently, so we are really pleased. This evening we worked on a few of the attachments the team decided on and we hope to finish things up in time to meet our deadline tomorrow night. It was a lot of work, frustrating at times to keep track of what went where, and slower than expected, but in the end we felt great. One thing that made it really good was that we all pitched in to make it happen. Our coach dismantled old chunks of LEGO and sorted, while we all kept busy doing various tasks. It was a good way to end the week!
