“Dubbed a varsity Sport for the Mind,™ FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get. Professional Mentors volunteer their time and talents to guide each team.”
Our FRC team, W.A.F.F.L.E.S. 4476, is in it’s second year and open to any interested students that do not have an FRC team at their school. We meet once a week most of the year, but during build season (January/February) we ramp that up to 6 or 7 days a week. In March we enjoy meeting up with other Canadian and International teams for our Regional Qualifying Event(s). Community partnerships and parents are key components to our team.
